Photo Tutorials - How To: Pull-Through Field Kits

The same no-harm nylon coating used on our gun cleaning rods is now available on our 750 lb. test wire cable cleaning system. The patch loop, brush connector and sliding pull bead are permanent parts of the cleaning cord. This design reduces weight, number of parts needed to clean, and lessens parts lost in the field. Always be sure firearm is unloaded. Prior to shooting, always pull dry patches through chamber and barrel to remove solvents and debris. This kit is designed for field or range use, and is not intended to replace quality gun cleaning equipment or total gun care procedures. Do not store oil in direct sunlight or keep in temperatures above 120 degrees F (50 degrees C).

To use the Pull-Thru Kits:

  1. Drop patch loop end of cord into muzzle end of barrel
  2. In breech area, put lubricated patch into loop
  3. Pull sliding ball on cord against other brass end and pull through muzzle
  4. Drop female brush connector end into muzzle
  5. In breech area, attach bore brush
  6. Pull sliding ball on cord against other brass end and pull through muzzle
  7. Repeat several times
  8. Drop patch loop end of cord into muzzle end of barrel
  9. In breech area, put clean, dry patch into loop
  10. Repeat until patches come out unsoiled

For Field Kits with Chamber cleaning tools:

  1. Thread t-handle, ext. rod and chamber brush together, or insert ratchet rod into brush ratchet end
  2. Turn brush and move in and out of chamber
  3. Attach a clean patch into loop and thread extension rod into brush connector. Slowly turn rod clockwise through chamber, then pull patch out through the muzzle.
  4. Bolt faces, rails, etc. can be cleaned with the utility brush
