Gun Cleaning Tips
|
| These
tips are not meant to replace the manufactures instructions.
Consult your owners manual for
specific instructions. |
|
Before you start observe all safety
rules. Unload the gun and check it.
Check your firearms for wear and
cracks when you clean. Consult a qualified gunsmith for
any necessary repairs.
|
| Contact between
brush tips and the bore can scratch or gall the bore ruining
accuracy. Use a muzzle guide or bore guide to prevent this. Our
one piece coated cleaning rods prevent scoring of the bore caused
by contact between the cleaning rod and the bore. Protect your
investment by purchasing quality cleaning products. |
|
DISASSEMBLY:
|
Do not disassemble your gun more than
necessary. Disassemble only to the point needed to reach areas
where fouling accumulates (bore, chamber, bolt, etc.). Alway
work on a clean, dry non-slip surface. |
|
CLEANING THE BORE:
|
Clean your gun in the same direction
the bullet travels from breech to muzzle. |
| |
Dip a patch in a suitable solvent
designed for bore cleaning. Using a Jag or patch holder pass
it through the bore. Use a fresh patch each time several times
to penetrate and loosen fouling. Don't pull the dirty patch back
through the bore. Note use of muzzle guard to center rod and
protect bore. |
| |
Dip a brush of the proper size in
solvent and pass it through the bore several times. Again, work
from the rear and go in one direction only. |
| |
Pass clean, dry patches through the
bore until there are no signs of residue on the patch. Work from
the rear and go in one direction only. |
|
LUBRICATION:
|
Lightly lubricate a bore mop of the
proper size and pass it through the bore 3 or 4 times. |
|
CLEAN THE ACTION:
|
Dip a nylon or phosphor bronze gun
brush in solvent and scrub areas where powder residues and fouling
build up (top strap, forcing cone, ejectors, slides, etc.). |
|
LUBRICATION:
|
Sparingly use a quality lubricant
to protect moving parts and inhibit rust. Do not over lubricate. |
|
REASSEMBLE:
|
After reassembling the gun, wipe all
exposed metal surfaces with a silicone gun and reel cloth to
eliminate fingerprints and provide rust protection. |
